hi my name is Jeff assume apologize to snap through and timing the good news is less people will have to listen to talk answers I really came and that's getting the classrooms and you can sit down with our teachers Justin's a really powerful thing, but again we were definitely people rolled in a little bit later welcome High School small place to drink the really try to live that in our building try to make it well worth while it's it's kind of a challenge at times and that we want everything for a kitten that we're still a small place and have time to work really hard to make sure that every kid has every awful thing and we can all  so singing of our district I want to talk about this just for a minute I know many times people that they come to back to my mom or freshman parents of hot seen a lot of fireplaces her face excuse me in the crowd that's a challenge cuz they all walk through the doors differently, they have different passions interest they have different challenges in their lives all of really kind of plan to the mission statement and he said this is a part of operating process that we went through several years ago but I bring up these attributes the but also quite our school district and how we want to operate here in our district you know he gazed the histories  open inclusivity is one of the most important words in our building Returns the attributes we want for our kids but engaged I think it's a my kids are unbelievably engaged as one of the great things about our our school district and this Heist 7% of our kids are just sitting extra glass cities in athletics 44% of $20 and 42% are in the Performing Arts and and that's it Oneida the kids there in so many claws it's amazing what what they did in to rigorous that kind of speaks for itself and I'll hit on some is a little bit internet or small emphasis here is on relationships without question a little bit more here in a little bit shirts  now in order to do what we do is a school takes great people and it takes great organizations I'd like few of those work by stickers for those organizations now to talk about how you can get them all and how you can park with her kids and the first one is Rena Kato cat vanished Ramirez Family Association president thank you no one ever hands me in my new phone my voice is pretty loud so you all coming welcome to a great 2017-18 here were very excited with the bed we're going to have new uniforms my buddy is aware yay there's are going to be  September so that's a long night night so please come and take a look gorgeous and I went to sleep to thank all of you our community at large we raised over $80,000  in order to do this and that was with all of your support Palomar staff support and the council's marble slab Grandview it was it was a huge project so thanks however however Bundy goes on we continue to have a costs band him as a variance thing and it's very important thing you never want to lose it but it's over $50,000 a year and of the band. Association cover a large chunk of that so that none of you have to do the whole thing and some children even get can you take off, so every kid gets on the bus or treasure says if they show up with a suitcase they get on the bus doesn't matter but we have to so do those things we do it in concessions so this is a big pitch you was coming right please on to your volunteer Lots huge component of how we raise funds and we especially need a lot of brush sophomore parents to help us out Step Up specially if you think about it on something like senior night so that those parents who would like to see change my feelings are popping up on itself up that would be wonderful and you all do other things besides I hate the smell of popcorn I get it chaperoning there is hanging banners there's all sorts of ways to contribute you can go she had to go through so I can find exactly to put more as you can imagine it is Performing Arts on the Grandview Heights High School web page so just think on that and see the band parents and all the sign-ups are there as well as a lot of other information we've been getting emails from mr. And it's amazing to see 125 kids on a field representative what really blows my mind is end of season review for those of you that are not around the band we're going to give you a little understanding what that is every single show which I believe is 5 shows throughout the season marching band season they put them together and perform on one night and I have no idea how the doesn't have to come as children are going to do each other it doesn't happen blows my mind how they can memorize that much and perform them and shows on one night so we're really excited I'm out there Friday night for first football game in love to have you beer this Friday and like to welcome who's our president thank you I'm going to come down to the high school to pick up your child schedule Lexington played in my son's name during the day and it's kind of fun school do that in several different ways we do run sponsor the after-prom and Spring Fling dances and this is like the rest the dances we are coming stickers for the students and parents throughout the year and then any other idea that comes to mind here was from Athens really great about reaching out information packet  so really liking things to our spirit when you're in the success of that fundraiser that we're able to do that so nice for that special things to me Becky Ryan was in the house today she is taking I'm going to scare so Wednesday that she works really hard so all of those play at the Friday Night Football game Southern Athletics or the Performing Arts in those that were able to provide thank you that helps us continue to do what we do mini Ivory II Tuesday or Wednesday of every month at 6:30 in the staff Lounge please come and join us and try to put it up on Facebook reminders are there any questions or talk a little bit about that Foundation meaning of German beer on the president of the Grandview Heights marble Cliff Education Foundation hopefully most of you are familiar with us when you're probably best known for our fundraising event every winter which is the the Education Foundation gala Austin said we are a source within the Columbus Community we are actually one of the largest education foundations in the Greater Columbus area we were started 26 years ago with the intent of formally starting an endowment that would van lifelong learning opportunities for both our community and our school last year I just last winter I gave up I was pleased to announce that we have an asset-based as well over 1 million dollars that we have grown in the last 26 years which phrase did you do with Dowling and a lifelong funding source for ways that we can help our community in a day Chrome try new things both as a community as well with the schools are we donated almost $1000000 to the schools and communities over the past few years on such things like Empire programs for sinus technology programs community and public Start programs 3 years ago or so we read in one classroom and each one of the school so to try to test our 21st Century Learning designs we've done community programs are we going to do a number of scholarships throughout the course of a year I last did not least the Globe Investor and the uniforms as well as the wellness center in a number of other things so for those of you more familiar and participated I'm doing anything to the auction showing up with the game thank you I'm if not love to see you tonight February 24th will be this year's new Ramen yard facility looking forward to it thank you the things that we believe in here I think it's proud of our teachers and I mean this sincerely I would put our teachers up against any building anywhere student service building relationships and caring about kids in particular when you get into his life for people that have the largest impact on their lives how many of you would choose and as you know from me up there and then High School by  that's because they care about me they love me they did anything in the world to help me grow and helping realize my potential including kicking me in the butt and I was a junior in high school because I wasn't working on my for the classroom  the night Malaysian you really believe that educators will have an immortality and influence on our kids on your kids and so relationships sporting thing that we talked about our building and there's there's a form of that I talked about a lot with our staff and that's relationships number one bill Christian passions interested invest in their lives understand what they want to do what happened and systems kids don't fall through the cracks and it doesn't matter how you have your building that work has to happen and that's what we're working on a multi-tiered system to support essentially it's a lot of different Boston beans intervention it structures & Systems and make sure that we're supporting our kids and every went and a lot of schools they talk about academics now Young Thug look at it the airport maybe and that's kind of dry them what their intervention model is we do look at that it's also moving attendance and this is a big that's awesome putting social emotional mental health is really really important that we look at mental health we believe that's probably the biggest Gap in education ever so we collect data we have teared support systems for every kid in the area mental health and we parked with families and really try to work on the work and how New Jersey are emotional health in obviously the universe as well you know you want to make this? We want to make it a reach that we have some very very town of kids in this building you've done very very well by the way thank you sent us some incredibly talented kids and sometimes quite honestly we getting wet and we're working hard to give them ownership in their learned give new opportunities  okay so one thing that we worked at on really hard this building is this idea access to high river courses and that includes college credit plus sure many of you for that also includes AP and honors classes we don't use the other terminology anymore that's not a baby kid that's not an honor skit what does that mean try to buy skids and we try to work with families to make sure they're set up at the perfect just right schedule and classes they can be successful but this shift in a p horses in particular resembles that helicopter taking off it's unbelievable all the way back in 2011 and 2014 AP classes total last year we had 179 and 350 dish total as a big ship that has that happens it's really important going on your capacity in the building to support kids we worked at that I think we have a long way to go honestly but I got to tell you that 98.9 kids in those classes ever see the Seer and those AP classes Let It Go also and see it more times than not it's really exciting  academic Signing Day is something that we started into I'm 13 and you can see I'm looking and predators are a wonderful College of your house or Jane shots can you wait out of minutes you rather have heard of Microsoft lot of Christmas she's wonderful but one of the things that we are on for years ago I need an exciting day in Florida today to celebrate academic Excellence scholarship has raised in their first year .7 million in total scholarship offers last year's over 11 million our kids are doing great they really really doing great things works out of that word text Sean Henkel on his right up front and he's one of our new staff members Sean can you stand up and wave he's going to talk to me just a second I'm going to talk to you little bit about attendance will still have a few more people Caleb Evans and some physical sense science Chemistry hours is part-time Spanish and correlations or time French some of them one of the things that I want to have mr. tickle talk about is the new state law with regards to tenants and he's going to do that right now Cimarron closet Harbor City  I do enjoy this new job Granny song on thank you all for being so welcoming as fat has been fantastic although as assistant principal it's kind of Doom and Gloom guy you to talk about negative things Somali join that aspect of as much but sweating and all the data  what the kids are being able to do here in Grandview and compare that to the hours that they spend in the class quite honestly this law really is not intended for district such as ours it's intended for others is really is but unfortunately we have to abide by them as well this is the could literally be a three-day class and we still wouldn't get it all in so I'll go real quickly here basically what there's two categories excessive absences and this would include tardies everything is reported now by the hour it's no longer how many ages of absences by by hour so if someone shows up tardy 30 minutes to school will guess what that's an hour of absence now Sunday Nest that is now six hours of apps  you have 38 hours a month we now need to place you intervention plan if I know and if you miss 65 hours in a year so now where you going you're less fewer than 11 days  four year you're on an absence intervention plan habitual truancy they call the 32nd of hours of an excuse I'm sorry excessive that would be this is a good one too it is what include unexcused absences but also so that's something very new the next category B habitual truancy which only includes unexcused three consecutive hours 42 hours per month for 72 hours in a school year again that would then be a print involvement on the absence intervention team  then fall on absence intervention plan absence intervention plan does there are the things we have to do it so it's getting interesting yeah and it's not our idea so please don't blame us for just wishing for them actually have to follow the law like everyone else but those are some of the new things  okay that was I'm sorry the Maine Greenhouse translate for okay things are going to see mr. Dave all the time he's going to be here Milo says we have an online middle school high school bell schedule 7:12 which is unbelievable it's been worked on for so many different beers we sure staff efficiency by which we use the shows that have ever between buildings and is important to our field it always shows up in their schedules and how many kids getting the classes they really want so then another thing I'd like to talk about past now it is natural possibility come on down the strong good evening so this is senior exploring if anybody's ever heard of a Capstone program for independent study Kohl's do this is sort of a hybrid of the two we wanted to design opportunities for students to engage in learning that is interest pacifically to that follows their passions are interest but we wanted it to happen to you can build technical education turn we wanted Bobby pages so that we're not oxygen into any specific way of doing their study self typically a Capstone on or thesis project will the state of student I'm going to use photography as an example of a student interest in photography we will say You're going to what time is the you're going to learn everything possible about photography if that's of cash in an interest and then in the end of the semester you're going to do a presentation and what you usually software is 5060 PowerPoint presentations biology years which is great but what we want to do is make it a little more free form still have Raider so this is what we came up with recall Explorer instead of Capstone we wanted to have that up if you're serious we learning skills and relevance and authenticity any one of those if you can think of those as different entry points to a project so they're all starting transfer students 4 century skills creativity communication collaboration critical thinking and citizenship those are the anchors that we use throughout our discussions or no matter what the students studying so those are sort of common points with you working in McDonald's you're going to use those skills if you're working internship with an attorney during the zoo you're still using those skills to this discussion points when classes get together authenticity used tutor project-based learning frequent lamp school project based learning is another word for recall real life you think of the types of things that we all on Cajon in our daily work we're trying to make these experiences relevant to students students play music New Tampa Photography if I had a student who is interested in photography I would try to place them in a setting where I think it work with a professional photographer they can learn more about a photographer music Premier but it would be relevant yeah you're on the right going to sit through this before short on time it over on the right the assessment in the alive presentation portfolio 858 performance testing does it could be alive presentation it could be us sitting down with the student and have Traverse  the whole point being that when it comes time for a student to do their final presentation we want them to do it in a language Steve is comfortable to them it makes sense to know so if Bob mr.
