The award winning Grandview Singers will be featured as one of the performing ensembles for the Ohio Choral Directors Association summer conference on Monday, June 17, 2019, at 7:15 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah, 51 N. State Street, located in Westerville.  Admission is free and an early arrival is recommended.  A PDF copy of the program is attached.

The Grandview Singers is a select chamber choir which studies and performs several styles of music throughout the school year including art music from all style periods, madrigal music, vocal jazz and popular music. The students are selected both by auditioning and by demonstrating the ability to maintain the highest standards of musical excellence through choral rehearsal and performance. Emphasis is placed on a greater mastery of performance and vocal production skills within the repertoire of progressively challenging music. They perform up to seven concerts within a school year as well as a variety of “run-out” performances for the community during the December holiday season. The Grandview Singers have consistently earned superior ratings at the OMEA State Adjudicated Events for the past fifteen years.

Vocal Music Director Andrew Grega holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Bowling Green State University, and a master’s degree in music education from The Ohio State University. His professional influences have come primarily from membership in choirs led by Jane Page, Mark Munson, Richard Mathey, Jim Gallagher, Hilary Afpelstadt, Richard Schnipke and Ronald Jenkins.

This is his 16th year as Vocal Music Director at Grandview Heights High School and Larson Middle School, where he instructs the Concert Choir; The Grandview Singers; 7th/8th Grade Mixed Choir; 6th Grade Choir; 7th grade music extension; and serves as music director and conductor for the high school musicals.

Professional affiliations outside of GHHS include: the Columbus Symphony Chorus; Ohio Music Education Association (member and active adjudicator); American Choral Director’s Association; Ohio Choral Director’s Association; and the American Eurhythmics Society. He has served as the regional chair for OCDA, and as both an audition judge and regional chair of the OMEA Ohio All State Choir. Mr. Grega is currently an online mentor for the Bowling Green State University Masters in Music Teaching Artistry program.
