In October 2019 (Down Syndrome Month), the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) surprised Occupational Therapist Michelle Long by naming her a 2019 EXTRAordinary Volunteer for her work with the organization.

 

Long is a long-time volunteer with DSACO.  When DSACO saw a need for a SIBS group, Long, being a sib herself, was invited to facilitate the group, develop discussion topics, group activities, and parent handouts.  She has facilitated multiple groups over time.  She also has served on the Post-Secondary Scholarship Program Committee.  Long, herself was a previous awardee, and wanted to give back.  

 

The presentation concluded with these final words: Thank you for your selfless donation of time and talent, Michelle!  You are EXTRAordinary!
