Artist in Residence

Debbie Brod, an artist from Cincinnati, Ohio, has worked with students through the Ohio Arts Council for 25 years, and most recently students at Stevenson Elementary.  Brod teaches art workshops for children and adults and exhibits her art regionally.  She just completed a commissioned art installation at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati.   With a background in painting, she often works in multimedia including textiles and repurposed materials expressing her passion for ecology and the planet.
 
Brod's two-week visit was funded by a Grandview Heights Marble Cliff Education Foundation grant and served every student in grades K-3.  
 
"Deb's approach to creativity is a perfect fit In our choice-based art education philosophy.  We are using up-cycled materials like plastic bottles and newspaper o create 3-D paper mache bird-inspired creations that will be presented at the November 22 morning meeting," said Laura Bova, Stevenson Elementary Art Teacher.
