Kids' Club Update

Dear Grandview Heights Schools Kids’ Club Families,

We hope this letter finds everyone healthy and safe.

We know many of you rely heavily on the enrichment and care we provide to your children through the Kids’ Club Summer Program.  We love planning the summer program and know that the Kids’ Club Summer Program provides many opportunities for your children to participate in engaging and fun activities with their friends which keeps them connected to learning and their community throughout the summer.

Based on information available right now, according to Governor Mike DeWine and Dr. Amy Acton most recent mandate, all school buildings and related facilities are “closed” through June 30, 2020.  After much discussion and deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Kids’ Club Summer Program.  Our ability to be able to provide the needed and required social distancing was one of the key challenges that has guided this difficult decision.

We continue to wait on directives from the Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Department of Education regarding Health and Safety requirements that must be met in order to start the school re-opening process.

In the meantime, we will focus on the upcoming school year and work closely with the district administration and local leaders to create a plan that provides a safe environment for all of our Kids’ Club families. We will work with the district to create a plan that is consistent in all aspects of your children’s daily interactions at school.

This process cannot be rushed and must be thoughtful. Some of the items that must be addressed include: social distancing practices, materials and supplies availability, cleaning requirements, group size, class size, staffing and staff training, and food safety.  This process will be our main focus in the coming months and we anticipate having a completed plan by August.

We would like to reiterate that the safety of our students and staff remains our number one priority as we navigate through this uncertain time.  Any fees paid toward the Kids’ Club Summer Program can be credited to your account and carried over to the 2020-2021 school year or refunded to you directly.

Thank you for your patience in regards to this very important decision.  It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Colleen Adkinson, Director, and Amy Gardner, Assistant Director
