Walking Path and Drop Off Information

LMS and GHHS School Arrival/Dismissal

2021-2022 School Year

 

Grades 4-6

All 4th through 6th graders will enter and exit the building through the 6th grade hallway doors, which face the West First Avenue parking lot.

 

All students in grades 4th, 5th, and 6th driven to/from school by a parent/guardian will be dropped off and picked up in the West First Avenue lot. Vehicles will enter in the east entrance nearest the new construction and exit through the west entrance of the lot back to West First Avenue.

 

Grades 7-8

All 7th and 8th grade students will enter/exit the building through the Commons doors.

 

All students in grades 7th and 8th driven to/from school by a parent/guardian will be dropped off and picked up in the Oakland Avenue lot. Vehicles will enter in the south entrance of the lot and exit from the north exit.

 

Grades 9-12

All students in grades 9th-12th will enter the new building through the south-facing main entrance (doors in between the new building and existing MS building).

 

All students in grades 9th through 12th driven to/from school by a parent/guardian will be dropped off and picked up in the Oakland Avenue lot. Vehicles will enter in the south entrance of the lot and exit from the north exit.

 

 

ALL STUDENTS GRADES 4-12 WALKING/BIKING

Bike racks are located at the southeast corner of the existing LMS building and at the main entrance of the new LMS building off Oakland Avenue. High School bike racks will be located just south of the main entrance to the new LMS building off of Fairview Avenue.

 

From the SOUTHEAST:

Students walking to school from the southeast will travel along the south side of West First Avenue, using the crosswalk at Oakland Avenue. Students in grades 7th-12th will travel north on Oakland Avenue sidewalks to the buildings. Students in grades 4th, 5th, and 6th, after crossing West First Avenue at Oakland, will travel the north side of West First Avenue to the sidewalk leading to the 6th grade hallway off the parking lot at West First Avenue.

 

From the SOUTHWEST:

Students walking to school from the southwest will use the crosswalk at West First Avenue and Oakland Avenue. Students in grades 7th-12th will travel north on Oakland Avenue sidewalks to the buildings. Students in grades 4th, 5th, and 6th, after crossing West First Avenue at Oakland Avenue, will travel the north side of West First Avenue to the sidewalk leading to the 6th grade hallway off the parking lot at West First Avenue.

 

From the NORTHEAST:

Students walking to school from the northeast will cross West Third Avenue at Fairview Avenue. There is a continuous sidewalk on the west side of Fairview Avenue, heading south to the main entrances of both buildings.

 

From the NORTHWEST:

Students walking to school from the northwest will cross West Third Avenue at Oakland Avenue/North Star Road.  Students must cross West Third Avenue on the west side of Oakland Avenue/North Star Road. There is a continuous sidewalk on the west side of Oakland Avenue, heading south to the main entrances of both buildings. A new crosswalk has been placed at the north side of the middle school parking lot, bringing students back to the east side of Oakland Avenue for both buildings.
