Student Spotlight

Congratulations to Grandview Heights High School Junior Kyle Kukura for receiving one of only 22 Honorable Mention Awards out of the several hundred original artwork submissions received in the 2025 Exploration Vessel Nautilus official patch artwork contest.

Each year, Science teacher RaeAnna Wieland's marine biology classes participate in a live ship-to-shore Google Meet with crew members aboard the Exploration Vessel Nautilus. Students also have the opportunity to submit original artwork for a chance to have their design featured as the official patch and sticker for the next season's expedition at sea. Winning designs are worn and displayed by members of the Corps of Exploration team.  Several hundred submissions from all over the world are received each year.

Several GHHS marine biology students submitted artwork for the 2025 expedition, which will take place in the Western Pacific Ocean
