Grandview Heights Schools are excited to share the positive progress our students and staff have made this year through the introduction of our Attributes for Success - a part of our Strategic Plan. During Semester 1, our school community focused on developing one attribute each month:
-
September: Intentional Communicator
-
October: Integrity
-
November: Curious Innovator
-
December: Resilient
Throughout the semester, teachers intentionally embedded these attributes into classroom lessons, discussions, projects, and activities across grades 4–8. Students explored what each attribute looks like in action, practiced them in meaningful ways, and reflected on how they connect to learning, relationships, and personal growth. Families also received monthly communication to help extend these conversations at home.
We are proud to share that the Attributes for Success are becoming embedded into our daily language and school culture. Students are increasingly able to name the attributes, explain what they mean, and demonstrate them in both academic and social settings. This work directly supports our district goal of ensuring every student feels a strong sense of belonging while developing skills for a well-balanced life.
As we move into Semester 2, we are excited to take this work a step further by launching the Attributes for Success Student Spotlight. Each month, teachers will nominate students who exemplify the featured attribute. Selected students will:
-
Receive a certificate
-
Be recognized with a small gift card to Lion’s Cub’s Cookies
-
Have their photo displayed in the cafeteria and on the TV near the main entrance
-
Have a letter sent home to families celebrating their recognition
Our monthly focus will continue, allowing us to celebrate students who consistently demonstrate these important qualities while reinforcing positive behaviors and growth.
