As the district prepares for it's upcoming May 13 Board of Education meeting presentation, we want to share important information regarding the 2026–2027 school year and the exciting progress toward a brand-new Stevenson Elementary. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in the Larson Middle School Media Center. All are welcome!
During the construction phase of the new Stevenson Elementary building, Stevenson Elementary students will be temporarily relocated to modular classrooms located on the front grounds of Larson Middle School (LMS). While this is a significant transition, it is one we have planned carefully to ensure a safe, structured, and positive experience for all students and families.
We welcome your questions as we prepare for the Board presentation. Board meetings are held in public, but they are not designed to be interactive forums, and in accordance with Board policy on public participation, the Board does not engage in back-and-forth dialogue during meetings. To help ensure your questions are addressed, we encourage you to submit them in advance by selecting the following link: Grandview Heights Schools: 2026–2027 Stevenson Transition Question Form
What to Expect
The modular classrooms will provide a high-quality learning environment for Stevenson Elementary students, and daily operations have been thoughtfully designed to support both Stevenson Elementary and LMS students throughout the school day. Stevenson students will also utilize select LMS spaces, including the gymnasium for lunch and physical education, while LMS students will use the high school gym as needed.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
To ensure safety and efficiency, we will implement structured drop-off and pick-up procedures across campus:
- Traffic will flow through designated loops with clearly marked areas for different grade levels.
- Staff, crossing guards, and administrators will be present to guide traffic and support students.
- Families will be asked to remain in their vehicles during drop-off and pick-up to maintain a continuous and safe flow of traffic.
Additionally, start times will be slightly staggered:
- Grades 4–8: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Grades K–3: 8:10 AM – 3:00 PM
Stevenson Elementary students arriving early will report to designated supervised areas within LMS, ensuring a smooth and organized start to the day.
Traffic Flow Maps & Visual Guides
To help families better understand arrival and dismissal procedures, we have included detailed maps and visuals below outlining drop-off and pick-up locations, traffic patterns, and staff support areas. See included maps.

Safety and Security
Student safety remains our top priority. Enhanced measures will include:
- Additional staff supervision during arrival, dismissal, and transitions between spaces
- Clearly defined traffic patterns with signage and controlled access points
- Expanded security features, including additional cameras, lighting, and communication systems across Stevenson Elementary, LMS, and Grandview Heights High School
- Coordinated safety planning with local authorities and regular practice of safety procedures
Commitment to a Smooth Transition
We recognize that this temporary relocation will require adjustments for students, families, and staff. Our teams have worked collaboratively to develop detailed plans, and we will continue to communicate frequently leading up to and throughout the school year. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth, safe, and positive as possible while we build a new, state-of-the-art Stevenson Elementary for our community.
