Mirolo Charitable Foundation $350,000 Donation
Grandview Heights Schools is proud to announce a generous $350,000 donation from the Mirolo Charitable Foundation toward the comprehensive $25 million renovation of Bobcat Stadium. In recognition of this significant contribution, the stadium field will be officially named “Mirolo Field,” honoring the legacy of Grandview Heights High School alumna Ms. Amelita Mirolo (Class of 1939) and the foundation she established.
The gift marks the latest chapter in the Mirolo Charitable Foundation’s decades-long commitment to community enrichment. Ms. Mirolo, a first-generation American and daughter of Italian immigrants, lived a life that serves as a testament to the American dream and the impact of giving back to one’s roots.
“Ms. Mirolo never forgot where she came from,” said Paul Bloomfield, Vice Chair/Director of the Foundation. “Her success in business is matched only by her generosity. Today, the Mirolo Charitable Foundation continues to be a vital partner in supporting the endeavors of Grandview Heights Schools, ensuring that our students have the resources to dream as big as she did.”
After graduating from Grandview Heights and The Ohio State University, Ms. Mirolo became a prominent leader in the Columbus business community as the owner of a successful mosaic tile and marble company. Upon selling her business in 1985, she dedicated her life to philanthropy, officially founding the Mirolo Charitable Foundation in 1993. Her mission was to support the arts, medical advancement, the Catholic Church, and educational opportunities for all.
Since her passing in 2006, the Foundation has continued her commitment to making meaningful gifts to deserving organizations. This latest contribution to the athletic complex ensures that Ms. Mirolo’s spirit of innovation and compassion will remain a visible and inspiring presence for future generations of Bobcats.
"We are sincerely grateful to the Mirolo Charitable Foundation, and inspired by the life and legacy of Amelita Mirolo. With their generous support, the enhanced athletic facility will serve as a hub for generations to come,” said Emily Gephart, President of the Grandview Heights Schools Board of Education.
The renovation of Bobcat Stadium is a centerpiece of the district’s commitment to providing premier facilities for students and the community. Renovations will include a new and welcoming south entry plaza and new locker rooms, restroom, concessions, storage spaces, bleachers, and athletic competition spaces all designed to ensure safety and equal access for all athletes and visitors.
The naming of "Mirolo Field" celebrates a journey—from a daughter of immigrants to a captain of industry—that will continue to inspire every student who competes on its surface.
