In preparation for the coming school year we have created an important video about drop off and pick up logistics, safety considerations, and other important information. Please take time to watch this with your son/daughter before our first day of school.
Bike & Pedestrian Safety Reminder for the 2026–2027 School Year
As we prepare to welcome students back for the 2026–2027 school year, we want to remind everyone of the importance of bike and pedestrian safety.
With Stevenson Elementary temporarily joining the Larson Middle School and Grandview Heights High School campus this year, our campus will see an increase in the number of students, families, bicycles, scooters, and vehicles during arrival and dismissal. Working together and following established safety procedures will help ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone.
We ask all students, families, and visitors to keep the following safety reminders in mind:
-
Follow all traffic laws and posted signs when driving, biking, or walking around campus.
-
Use designated crosswalks whenever crossing streets or parking lots. Crossing at marked locations helps drivers anticipate pedestrians and keeps everyone safer.
-
Listen to and follow directions from school staff, crossing guards, and law enforcement officers who are assisting with traffic flow before and after school.
-
Wear a properly fitted helmet whenever riding a bicycle, e-bike, or e-scooter. Helmets are one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of serious injury.
-
Slow down and be mindful of others. Students riding bicycles, e-bikes, or e-scooters should use extra caution when approaching campus. If sidewalks, pathways, or bike rack areas are crowded with pedestrians, riders should slow to a walking pace or dismount and walk their bike or scooter to the designated bike racks. This simple step helps ensure the safety of everyone on campus.
-
Lock bicycles and scooters at the designated bike racks each day. Bringing a lock will help keep personal property secure while students are in school.
-
Motorized Scooters/Mopeds are NOT allowed on sidewalks at any time.
The beginning of the school year is always an adjustment as everyone becomes familiar with new routines and traffic patterns. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we work together to create a safe environment for every student.
