Forum to Focus on District Finances

The School Board is hosting a Community Forum on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in the Grandview Heights High School Auditorium located at 1587 West Third Avenue, Columbus, Ohio.

The Forum will begin at 7:00 p.m. when School Treasurer, Tammy Rizzo, will present the current fiscal status of the school district. Following this presentation, School Board Members will hold small group sessions to gather input from the community regarding the timing and size of a potential future school levy.

In 2010, the School Board placed a 5.9 mill levy on the ballot. At that time, the Board promised that the 5.9 mills (3.9 mills for district operations and 2.0 mills for building improvements and technology) would meet the needs of the district for three years.

Despite a loss of 1.4 million dollars in state funding during the 2011 and 2012 fiscal years, the district, through strong financial management, has been able to stretch the 2010 levy into a fourth year.

Please plan to attend and take this important opportunity to provide the School Board with valuable input.
