2013-2014 State Report Card Results

Dear Grandview Heights and Marble Cliff Parents and Families,

On Friday, September 12, the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) released the 2013-2014 State and Local Report Cards and we are excited to report that the Grandview Heights City School District received the top rating in central Ohio earning a 109.4 on the Performance Index (PI) measure of achievement. We were one of 37 districts in the state of Ohio to receive an “A” on the performance index. Grandview Heights Schools finished 17th out of the 610 traditional school districts in Ohio.

At a time of increased levels of accountability and challenge to Ohio’s schools, Grandview has not only held its’ own, but has in fact progressed. The progress is due to the deliberate work by our Board of Education, District leadership teams and teachers, parents, and most of all our wonderful and hard working students.

There are six measures on the State Report Card:

1. Performance Index – a weighted score which increases based on the number of students performing at high levels (grade earned = A)

2. State Indicators – student proficiency rates on state tests (grade earned = A)

3. Annual Measurable Objectives - measures the achievement levels of students regardless of income, race, ethnicity or disability (grade earned = B)

4. Progress – measures the growth of a student in a given year - Overall (grade earned = A); Gifted (grade earned = B); Students with Disabilities (grade earned = C)

5. Graduation Rate – measures the number of ninth graders that graduate in four or five years (grade earned = A)

6. K-3 Literacy (Not Reported Currently)

While we have much to celebrate we also recognize that we have room for growth and improvement. We will use this data to continue to focus on ensuring all students are improving and succeeding year after year. We will “unpack” this year’s results to better understand root causes. To do this we will use four distinct lenses: curriculum, instruction, leadership, and structure. Based on our analysis we will then author corresponding action steps for improvement. We will remain growth minded in our continual promise of maximizing the learning of every student.
