In the News

Governor John Kasich recently released the details of his 2016-2017 biennial budget proposal and reports have shown that Grandview Heights City School District would lose 42% in its state funding support over the next two years, or in other words, almost $1,000,000.   This would represent about 6% of our total annual operating budget.  But, to a small school district like us, this is significant.

At this point, this is only a proposal and the first step in a long political process.  There will be much deliberation in the state legislature over the next several months and the budget will likely not be finalized until June 2015.

A loss in state support for our schools is not new to us.  In fact, our school district has experienced more than $2.1 million in reductions over the last four years.  We have implemented measures to offset these state funding losses and we remain committed to our strong tradition of fiscal responsibility and accountability that is Grandview Heights City Schools.

We will be closely monitoring the budget process over the next several months. However, our primary purpose and focus has always been, and remains, on educating our children.  We know that our staff will continue to focus on what is most important and that is the students who are walking through the school doors each day.  We will continue to provide you with timely updates while keeping our focus on our core vision of educating each and every child every day.

Sincerely,

Andy Culp, Superintendent
