66th Annual Cake Walk, Cake Decorating Contest Info

On Friday April 10, 2015, The Grandview Heights High School Instrumental Program will hold its 66th annual Cake Walk from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Grandview Heights High School Gymnasium located at 1587 West Third Avenue.

This traditional Grandview Heights spring event attracts hundreds of people. The Cake Walk is a vital fundraiser that provides support to the band program for students in grades 5 - 12.  Funds are used to supply music, repair instruments, attend band camp, compensate instructors, and purchase and uniforms (some uniforms are 30 years old).

The Cake Walk is a giant game of musical chairs with the band students playing live music and cake participants walking around one of five giant cake rings in hopes of winning a cake when the music stops.  Concessions, games, face painting, tie-dye shirts, and a photo booth add to the fun.   There is also a silent auction for Decorated Cakes donated by premier restaurants Grandview Heights, Upper Arlington, and Columbus such as Aladdins, River Club- Confluence Park, Z Cucina, Cakes and More, Huffmans Market, Goodie Shop, La Chatelaine, Ebie Cakes, and the Chocolate Factory.

There is also a Decorated Cake Table for students and adults to enter cakes in various categories to be judged with prizes awarded.  Admission is $1.00 and activities tickets are .25 each.
