The top athletes and coaches in the ThisWeek coverage area were announced November 28, 2017, during the first ThisWeek Sports Awards banquet at Villa Milano. The event honored 159 athletes as well as coaches from all 12 fall sports and attracted more than 500 guests. Dr. Dan Ross, OHSAA Commissioner, was the keynote speaker and Doug Lessells was the emcee.
James Lachey was named to the ThisWeek Super 25 All-Metro Football Team. This award honors football players from all Divisions in the Central Ohio Metro Region. James Gerdes was named Coach of the Year in Boys’ Soccer.
Congratulations to the following Grandview Heights student-athletes for being named finalists for ThisWeek Athlete of the Year: James Lachey – Football, Manny Day – Boys Soccer, Wes Ryan – Boys Soccer, Anna Dobies – Girls Soccer and Maddy James – Girls Soccer.
