Staff Recognition

At a Spring 2018 Board of Education regular meeting, as well as a District Cabinet meeting,  two Grandview Heights Schools employees were honored with Bobcat Awards.  The Bobcat Award, co-sponsored by the Tri-Village Rotary Club, recognizes an outstanding contribution of time, talent, or effort to the Grandview Heights Schools by an employee or community member.  Music Teacher Brian Petit and Facilities Maintainer Kirk Gronbach were honored for their contributions to making Grandview Heights Schools a better place to learn and work.

The following words are excerpts from their nominations:

Brian Petit

Mr. Petit teaches all K-3 General Music classes, 5th Grade Guitar Ensemble, and 5th Grade Band (trumpets and trombones).  Mr. Petit gives the children who surround him access to music as an active, rigorous, yet rewarding pursuit.  Mr. Petit's lessons are very fluid, teaching children how music relates to all areas of life and how it can be found in everything they are learning.  He takes topics that are taught in other areas of the school (empathy, Spanish, time, history, etc.) and seamlessly weaves them into his curriculum.   He strives to establish and promote a classroom where musical creation and expression is experienced by every student. Here, the joy of music, as a human phenomenon, is both celebrated and promoted.  Mr. Petit makes outstanding contributions of time, talent, and effort to the Grandview Heights Schools.  He is the perfect representation of what embodies the Bobcat Award.

Kirk Gronbach

Mr. Gronbach is a District Maintainer in the Facilities Department, but it was his service above self-approach that allowed him to shine during a fellow employee’s absence.  He went above and beyond the call of duty while working at Stevenson Elementary.  I witnessed his attention to detail on a daily basis.  He made sure everything was taken care of and that the staff was pleased.  Mr. Gronbach also went out of his way to help the students and staff stay healthy during the harsh flu season.  He has always been a friendly, hard-working staff member, however, having him at Stevenson Elementary full time during this time was an opportunity for our staff to see him in action on a daily basis.  Mr. Gronbach is extremely deserving of this award.
