just graduated from Laingsburg universe battery in childhood education University and I hear marker 13 here in Houston just head is in 3rd Generation educator your grandparents and parents were both of Education University in her bathroom human development  Bugatti 1999 after spending five years  2nd 3rd and 4th grade Cat Stevens Elementary School to go to DC after Larry Garza Middle School pitching coach 3012 I have to admit I'm a little nervous I'm used to talking to 10 year old it's going to be a little bit racist  what an antenna do I didn't have I didn't have the freshman so nice to see some fresh faces but a lot of you are familiar faces we have a blower on some very very difficult here so you'll from the news your best teacher voice hey so we are full together sheds, many of you will be at the senior center graduated last year pictures of my homework that are seniors restaurant Justin Bieber the song Happy  receive assistance from the same group a year later when you are sick trade me for my birthday Stephen Curry Bank of America service number where I look good call 735 silver hydrosol by God if you like we will I'm sorry for everything strawberry Los Angeles show me a picture of what's up dirty always does scheduler  Edinburgh I was pretty sure wasn't going to be a teacher because a jerk  It's always something different so when I went there I was in the mine said that I was going to do this stop two girls on the basketball team who I was friends with live down the hall and they both came in and they wanted to go into education and I was always down there working on their stuff with them so after my first semester I decided when I was enrolling for classes like what's your freshman year that I wanted to get into education and I love babysitting I love working with kids so what I was in my first class were out of school that I just feel it it just felt right so it was a pretty quick transition from business education better for me my great grandma was a teacher my grandparents are teachers my parents are both teachers I'm from this tall one of these and I never really considered anything else and it's been great so I've got a pretty simple story okay so like teachers we're going to ask me what it's like Netflix okay  grading papers yes yes what else Hollydale yeah okay ocar yeah we did not support plan so we have to do some planning turn all things that we do have to do but there's a lot beyond that so one big piece of the pie is communicating Paris communicating with other staff communicating with you know are the principal or or things like that that a lot of of our times this making sure that we're staying on top of that communication the lesson planning yeah it never ends okay, whenever we the day is over at 3 we start right then planning for the next day or planning more turn from that the grading papers last night I went to a Macy my daughter's gymnastics class or her gymnastics and I sign papers so that was at 7:30 at night I'm grading papers so I'm always taking my bag with me and always always doing stuff things to do  since you think about will like this is your 13 and you've done this 13 times like it should be pretty easy but it's all and I'm glad I'm not teaching exactly how I was when I first started to grade what we did yesterday I have an idea where I was going to go this week but we're a little bit behind so every day every night you have to be evaluated what are the kids ready for the next day  and hopefully you feel like  you feel like this about coming your teacher what they're going to push you what a person a better student they might be your friend they might have to disappoint also we have to create a climate in our classroom then same so they kids don't get their feelings hurt  Suburban was just an anything different at different levels from you know Steven said where are there tiny tiny little guys to where we are in the middle school and it's different than High School by duties that we have last week mrs. Walker and I both had the poor School Duty and you probably remember that standing outside waiting to come in so we to be you know there a little early and every once in awhile for for a week to watch him to keep them safe and come in the morning so sometimes before school and we have lunch duty this week I have lunch duty all week long so I have to scarf down my lunch real quick and head outside for recess Duty you were for that remember having teachers out there for recess Duty so there are a lot of Duties and things like that then that are coming to play as well so maybe those are you don't think about you know we think of it okay you're going to teach plan you're going to great but there are so many more pieces to what we do but just that  professional development also we have to  stay current and as mrs. Walker's yeah we're always changing and revamping and you know it would be very boring for us if we talk if I taught the same way in the same thing I did 16 years ago that would be the horribly boring so we have to constantly be doing professional development to learn to grow to be able to do the differ Innovative things with with you are so a lot of professional development after school a couple times you know really it's really not once a week we have some sort of meeting or professional development after school it might be a meeting with a team to talk wow the particular student it might be a meeting you know just a staff meeting that we need to go to you know stay up with what's going on in our building different committees that were on tonight there's a mentor meeting after school and I'm a mentor to a brand new teacher so I'm in a meeting score for that so about 1 so once a week I'd say is what it averages that you are in some sort of meeting after school hours for us I know it is a little differently you know from building to building but there are those things as well any questions about that search awake Jake Wyatt Vegeta's right now turn on from 1:40 or 4 years so it's yours and middle childhood education  and I believe this is still with you're going to go to education issues tender Gardens to be certified kindergarten through 3rd grade 4 through 9 wins subject areas or 7 to 12 with a focus in 179 playback an added one through six Matt and I took a little bit of a different path of when I went to Ohio State they didn't do Bachelor's in education anymore so I had to get my Master's Degree right away so that's something that you want to make sure you're checking into you know is there a four-year degree option for education whatever you're planning to attend if if you're wanting to get into education for me but that was a different a different piece so I actually got my back players in in child and family studies and then I'm just in a master's program in education and back my degree was first grade through eighth grade so I'm certified to teach first grade through eighth grade but now the Via licensures is different as Walker said  Eminem every five years were required to fill out and if you do witches professional development plan do we have to have proof that we have taken more classes or Northern workshops to renew her license  through the state of Ohio that's a state of Ohio requirements OU 6 semester hours every five years of or the equivalent of that so some of the workshops and things we go to you know we can get credit for those things but to stay current so it's not just I'm going to get my degree and I'm done no more you know no more classes or work on top of that you have to every 5 years the equivalent of 6 semester hours to take yourself current education  mom right now there is a apiece with this that there's a new teacher evaluation system and so teachers starting last year we required to go through a really pretty rigorous pretty detailed on the valuation where he know principles are going to come in and evaluate and watch you teach you have to prove that you're doing all of these when you have to chew up nope get it you're going to get a certain ranking as a teacher and so they really up the ante here recently as as I'm keeping your license staying current you have to to go through the evaluation system so a lot of paperwork with that okay so an elementary school we get a whole lot of pictures or card or something like this that I love every day and then seem kids because I'm excited about it that's the positive relationships having some flashback scene some of your faces that I had six seven years ago with my good memories it's always me grow and become successful and set at to watch even working together with you guys again  so that's always a positive to the relationships and getting to teach subject that I love greatest positive to all of those things football go on in and kids had just recently I saw this new way to help help subtract when your subtracting and you have all your zeros you have to borrow cross I'll make a 1099 that's so confusing for people and there was this different way to do it and I showed it to awesome exciting people get excited about the subject or those light bulbs go off and their head I really like to to make sure the kids are liking math no we love science it's fun hands on you get to do all the cool stuff loves Walker but I like to try and turn some people who are like them so hard a positive that I feel is trying to turn that around and they can be fun let's play so I really like to see you when people go from and about math to enjoying it and to understanding it that's really cool some other positive said he talked about our debt it's a great teachings a great career for for people with families for raising a family you know there is that's that oh yeah you know you too you go from 8 to 3 and you got your Summers off and you know that's great and play not completely as I said I was grading papers at gymnastics practice last night and you're never done as a teacher you're always on your own summer oh you know when we're driving out of town for Thanksgiving vacation for Thanksgiving break I've got my laptop and I'm doing work but it is nice because minion have that flexibility so you know if I can if you need to you know kind of book it real real quick to get to get pick up your children or shoe to get to place AMD there is no flexibility in that's nice that's really nice of theirs that there's flexibility in there company think about like the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas holiday and we are kids more 4 days at which is it is next  one more thing that singing about as I've has a real positive is I think an education and I'm sure that this is true and other Crews as well but it's really exciting because you're always learning you're always striving at me I'm always learning and I'm always striving to incorporate new things and to find new and fresh ideas so I think a real positive of it always evolving and changing and it doesn't get for it because there's always something that you can change and make better and enough and do so I would say something else I think the real positive there's always something to do to improve and it definitely not for it's definitely not boring  what are the biggest what is which you guys would probably feel the frustration is all of the testing States has the map testing I'm not a picture of the high school I know it's different things up but really care for that either no I think they had added it up then with all of the map testing and all of the other picture required to do that was 17 days that we are missing with our kids to do Heather Christie ghetto to say like cool when you take the Baptist and 10 year old is the computer just clicking away and 10 minutes later they're finished  that's a reflection of what we can I add a challenge that message there's just a lot of that another challenges just there's a lot of paperwork a lot of kind of to jump true that it seems like there are more and more you know or recently with with the state of Department especially on so I could be frustrated because it's like go in my room close the door and have fun but there's other stuff congenital frustrating sometimes  I don't know if you guys heard in the news recently advised and there was even an article in the dispatch about play Cut certain teachers and Librarians and gym teachers in our teachers and music teachers and you're going I think I mean I can't imagine going to school without that and I think how important that is and people who are same ad thank you imagine your day without any of the Arts like that I don't think that that's what's best for kids traffic at the challenge when there are people who aren't in education making decisions for the anything  traffic sometimes it's that whole public purse you know that sometimes can be a challenge you know teachers aren't doing enough or you know they're getting paid too much or there no cause they just have their summer stop it so sometimes battling that public perception can be a challenge as well hello thing that we talked about as a challenge is just all this which which would include what we just said all those things that are out of our control and sometimes out of our control is is thing are things specific to students meaning family situation that that are impacting our students that make it difficult for them and off to take take them where they are with all that and just do what we can do and do our best so sometimes all those all those things that are that are out of Arkham call Kenny challenges so play fix it there will always be teachers changing with technology and  you know I don't know exactly what can I look like I know that there are some online schools but I can't imagine not working with his you up yeah okay is Major in anything other like kinesiology how far High School teachers can help with this cuz we're more Elementary Focus but you know there's a way to major in elementary education play if you want to teach a specific subject area education but it's art or  you know certain Linguistics or whatever do you like looking what is inside so I have a four-year degree in art and art history and there was back or education that happens a lot when you're up how about you? Multiple raise one in elementary education one through eight like you jail that's the old school and then I have a Theatre degree so I can teach K through 12 theater and then I had to get a masters in Library  right when I get the Masters guy because it makes more money scale and how that works and if you have your master's degree you are going to make your money because you have more education it's different into districts like the pay scale and how that works but here you are  rewarded with more money for the mortgage occasion assume you're going to be a better teacher set an alarm for 3 you can get reimbursed the course of three years in Grandview had a pro has a program where they can reimburse you or have me waivers so I would go to class like I I was able to take classes pays more. So  there are opportune many districts do that  I'm going to be a show I think he would like to go into education spend your day with people just like you Christmas 2004 can you turn it off 411.com  funniest certification in various aspects of dog training movie theater in Secaucus  website to get small business owner this is Bruce and we work at the Canine Center in Westerville Ohio daycare training and boarding opposite started out as a certified professional dog trainer once I got into the dog world I realized very quickly there's a lot more to offer than just obviously training but we started in 2011 and then after that we started having a bond ever but I was going to ask you guys today and I want to see a set of hands who wouldn't want to work a day in their lives who was the word day at the first day I felt and what is with passion uniform find something to eat truly love it you do it you're going to go places to buy a lot of times to nowadays there's a lot of mainstream of this supposed to do something as far as whether it's going to college for something very specific when a lot of times especially your guys's age it's going to be tough to know exactly what you want to do so what I always like to tell people's this really find something that you can really just get a great passion for it because once you do it's not working you know going to working on my 250 60 hours a week but to be a coming to look at it like that anymore I glad to get up to do what I do everyday because I love dogs ultimately just a little green BRAC background about me honestly I went to Grandview after that it wasn't quite sure you know exactly what I wanted to do I was sad for a little bit worked a lot of you know ottoman jobs moved Carolina Florida Colorado said happy that you know I just kinda was thinking to myself man you know I'm just not really doing with my life and I'm moving around to find something a little bit more where can I get over the door I got to get a hold of more responsible and that's alternate Lee I looked at you know what is it that I love them and then that's my set my dog's you know cuz I thought about a lot of different things but I want Smoothie King on my guys and so I was like I do cancel that's been at that point I went to National K-9 school for dog trainers and that's actually here in Ohio at that school they give you 12 different indoors everything from basic obedience to advance off Lee and then of course in detection retrieval word cadaver courses they can horses as well and we can also please canine training as well I thought about though I need to have some credentials and just like college getting a degree just like engineering school doing in the calling Area Arts a lot of time it's good just to have that certification so I went in and took my cores got certified and then after that I pretty much just took on a life of its I'll be at rained out of my house for the first year and a half that I will dog trainer while I still had a full-time working at a dog daycare wow but I did that for about a year-and-a-half and then after that I saved up enough money to finally purchase the Canine Center that I'm at here in Westerville Ohio it was either like it was a lot of hard work and dedication but again you know just went to drive that I had behind it and made it just a lot lot easier to as well what times do people think about training to on a times it's kind of like your convenience I'm training but I would think with what I'm doing it more than anything else was just really busy start to finish product with dog starts one place he might have some challenges you might have some issues that he needs to work on it but ultimately I'm getting to that went and seen that his body was when I'd love to as well getting a lot anything adolescent dogs that are you know really had a challenge with her parents a lot as well just a word with these guys and it's getting adjusted to what we all kind of want more than anything else Bruce Lobby so you can see it reminder to Don's new pretty good right now but when he was younger you know keeps a huge challenge he would have listened to me very much you know he was always just me rainbow say what you want to do baby be destructive and choose days I was up to him when you want me to do it but ultimately with straining to as well it's what really helped open my lines of communication to really get him. Or I'm a lot better will be at this point in time too but after the certification a lot of people also think to maybe starting a small business that can be a very very big challenge but you know after you do a stamps not going downtown working with the bank little bit it really only takes a couple of days and honestly if I can do something like that and he wanted you guys to do something like that there's actually a really easy process we got certified and then we just started rolling after that and it's just been an absolute blast every step of the way but again I'm you can't tell him who she asked about what I do and I know I just encourage you guys to all do the same thing as well look at it as what you truly love do something with it whether it's even if you like football or professional football players still be in that type of process to still be in the game so to speak to as well but it's definitely been a blast every every step of the way a lot of times when people think about training again it's commands but again I'm going to bond a lot more with them or you can see like with Bruce  can see he can Lieutenant know you can do it I think there's more to it real. call you know a lot more than just again convenience we also want to make sure that gets comfortable just me and you know to spell Everyday by doing  ears the nails too as well Justin get him acclimated to every everyday life through as well but again it you know it was something was hard when I started my business to as well and you know experience was a pretty cool teacher for me because you know we just got to jump right into it and I got the exam first and I forgot the lessons afterwards and but again kind of learn and grow along the way that's good spot it's challenging, but it's been a blast  Erykah Badu he's like a little bit a little bit a little bit of what we do Canine Center again just to give the dogs to listen little bit better basic obedience is a big Orlando do as well he's really listen to me Tire time for the most part so I was going to just got to work a little bit so you can kind of see like how I work on the trailer. It's kind of on a daily basis call Ricky Nelson CW have a training collar on Bruce the biggest key to that is we've been she want to kind of wean them off of those two as well but ultimately I just want to make sure play follows me around a little bit you know a lot of people when they see the say like I want my dog to do this did I get any dog in absolutely do something like all of you just trying to be a little bit of attention to you but just to get a better understand  a lot of times to when people want to train with dogs I have to ask you train with your dog and doors are on leash and a lot of times people say no I've never trained on leash with the dog indoors and starting to swell send it there you go a lot of times commands a lot of times dogs can do the command some cells but I want them to be able to hold the commands for an extended period of time as well a lot of time transition over to when they see it. Maybe on the wall and they get overly excited maybe they want to pull out after them what would be the first step is controlling that impulse time energy good job buddy very good just kind of releasing too so that way they know to hold the commands until we basically release them or give them another Canadian about time again with your training as well okay we wanted to basically be comfortable which is about moving on is ladies sticking straight up in the air could be all nervous and so you know for me I was like well I'm just going to keep doing this with them every yet Lahore top quality things like that where you just  kind of put them in institutions to wear light you know really uncomfortable for them but for me I just look at it like this a little bit of a challenge but yeah that's right things like that working with them on a date it's a beautiful thing you can see the progression as they go to as well you can see Bruce you know he's pretty because he knows we're going to be gauged we're going we're going to be really happy to okay there you go yeah buddy, okay again to be working with our training collars but the main go with me in a lot of my clients as I always like to eventually get away from them too as well so Alaska dance dance the boy Bear Dam yeah that's right so still here you transition work with certain colors at first the first transition away from them and that point you time to what's up bud . great job at work so far  Monday he'll be home in like 5 minutes out April 6th prison so basically you can all start from those commands you know you work with him on those sits and downs and it's so change it for the world two years ago I have no idea I would be doing this you know I was still kind of arms are three years ago I still wasn't quite sure what I was doing I was a little unsure of where my life is going and then that's when I just looked at it said you know what I want to do for the rest of my life and ever since I chose to you know dog training I haven't worked a day since and that's just the one who began if they can implement for you guys a lot of times life is supposed to be structured a certain way like you need to do this you need to do this in this and you know I'm going to tell you that life isn't always exactly like that is going to have its ups and downs and you know it's not always as cookie-cutter as it's always made out to me so to me it's always fine what he wants certainly try and get a certification or bring something like that but ultimately it's just not as he knows not always lays everyone always says it is to find what you love trying to make a living out of it then you're going to be just you know yet I work today the last 4 years since I truly truly love what I do so thank you guys for your time I appreciate it and anybody any questions or about the dog training career or when I can do or what Bruce can do the nothing nothing nobody show me you don't different variances cuz you can't take part-time courses just like your college in and National K-9 I took a month-and-a-half long course it was Monday through Saturday something from about 8 to about 7 at night but it was about a course that you take in about a month. scores do you go through pretty quickly law A Long Day's too as well that I'm a lot of long days you go to school you learned all day of course at 9 you have your homework so that even though your dogs exhausted from working with you all day and stuff and go home and then team training with them at that point in time make a note National P9 there are a lot of other different colleges in different ways that you can get certified for training too as well so I definitely would recommend looking on find the movie of some of the different colleges that they do office especially nowadays there's a lot of different training philosophies out their ears Yelp 100% positive training run never going to correct the dog and there's a course people that don't like using a little bit of Corrections from time to time so it's also again repealing on what type of philosophies do you like to use to as well just a little bit about my philosophy because I don't think anything in life this one hundred percent positive I don't think our lives are one hundred percent positive so I don't know why that dogs I should be that way either but the type of Correction buy my gift to him are necessarily going to be subbing the farm Sam hurts him in any way it's just going to be something like  something like that it just repost a little bit so that's to me why I'm I prices are a little more tone down to maybe some other trainers might be using but ultimately I think adding that into his PO can be very beneficial tree training to find you some treats for the most part but I usually think they cleaning away from the tree at at some point in time it's going to be a good thing so that way we know what's also going to listen to you as much as they're going to listen to that really you don't delicious morsel that you have in the you know enticing them at that point too but but all there's all sorts of different trainers just like anything else especially if you need any help with training as well if you're looking into hiring a trainer all Traders are a little different world overall little crazy and I'm a little bit do you have the questions yeah buddy is Pizza Pit collie mix 3 months old when I lived in Florida and then group in the backyard Ohio my little partner in crime is kind of traveling all over the place a little bit as well but it's a very good trait it's also made him really disobedient and first as well a lot of time so find a smarter the dog the more ornery they can be the more they can seem to get themselves from time to time so once I started keeping him busy and challenging him a little bit more too as well that's when I really got to see you know a lot better Behavior change how to reset a point in time oh absolutely no point when it comes down to $80 I usually recommend about an hour's worth of exercise everyday and now I'm living on the bottom so but I like to say like maybe 20 minutes here maybe 15 minutes here and you have to working on your Vans or what that's going on walks what's Pangea very beneficial where's Leo at my side walking with me then Russell a little bit all over the place they're still beneficial and on cruise you then barge when they're pulling and when they're going to tell me I'm driving course you want to let your mom to the side and snap from time to time but walks are extremely extremely beneficial a lot of people don't realize how this training physical energy is what they need fish swim the birds fly and dogs walk and they've been in so it's basically in their DNA that they need to walk if they're pack me and telling always keep going forward so I will always encourage everybody walkthrough dogs as much as they possibly can obviously when it gets colder outside and can be a little bit more of a pain to get them out so the next when I might recommend working with your dog like that site basic obedience working on any since it down skills or stays so that way we can mentally drain their energy just as physical trainer energy to as well say I'm laying down that's good can I just walk around my house with it if anything is just keeping the dog entertained it's interacting with them all those little things that you can do to interact with them is going to help them engaged with you too as well their dogs energy just had a little bit lower energy level the lower the energy level of an easier is to really train with the dogs to teach them anything they any sort of message you want to at that point in time as well  any more questions I can do a little bit more basically pretty much those like your sit down he'll stay calm and then as coarse as what you see I just really really bored of by the so that they have a lot more meaning than just like maybe just your typical said or the year typical down Tracey Izzard she spoke earlier honestly she's booked during the first session one of the things that I found very interesting that she spoke about call a different areas that these types of careers put into it I mean it's not just a single type of careers but the introduce you to Tracy desert is the executor services and what the service of the United Services provides is it's a service agency that gives foster care helps with a die Housing Services and obviously this is very important to us as as as people as as societies and communities and one of the things that that we also talked about a first session is you know what do you mean terms of Education well to let you know Tracy has a bachelor's degree in Psychology has two master's degree what is a counseling psychology in the other and business administration and then she has numerous licenses in and she'll speak to those types of things one of the things I hope that you're here to hear that you were here to hear about but know how we can help other people and how these types of things and careers like this can be beneficial to others anyway with no further Ado Tracey Izzard Minecraft Master can you tell me how many of your seniors and juniors Chuck Norris  interested what is this word question is if you ever considered going into counseling or so or or psychology  say OK Google Brandeis to tell me what is a Tysinger what what is throwing use tickets to that field people helping people that's great that is really the number reason people get into this is because they feel like they have something to give them into a society are there any other things that sound thinking about being in Psychology or social work  yep that was my my interest she said learning how the my works somebody affect their can you take you want to know what helping people oh how people think right  well those are all things said that I was interested in and I started I can tell you I Cry project is 6th grade we had to do like a career exploration then if I work on tile psychology so the sixth grade I have been very interested in how the brain works why people do what they do why do people drink  NYU do people who are very similar and how they can perceive a situation so very differently and why all of this happens in in is very interesting to me and then  when I was in 8th grade we had kind of a tragedy in arsenal somebody had committed suicide in a very horrific way and our entire town was just kind of rupt by this but it didn't end there every year after that so many in our small town committed suicide and I just didn't get it I didn't understand why understand what was going on that was causing this to happen and why people fell so had an out-of-touch and I feel like I so I can give up your counselor in high school and I think that the mystery or just kind of chose me graduated from high school and to high State and I thought that I was going to major in Psychology but I was kind of giving some other Peter careers at Rye I thought that I would like to be a weather girl so I took a couple of courses to get a meteorology and then I took my purse Classon and I was just I was bit I love to learn how the brain worm and took norovirus horses and this stuff is just really it was and then when I graduated with a psychology degree and a bachelor's degree there's really not a lot you can do celebrity  and my sales job moved me to Tennessee and that's when I realized it's been just wasn't what I wanted to doing showing up my cup so I went back to get my Master's Degree  and that's when I got my first job in foster care as a reservist and I working with kids in foster care and they're biochemist to try and help you get the foster kids back home with the biodag then I have worked in a variety of different settings I continue to get more education and get a higher degree of licensure but then I also get a new set of experiences I have worked in foster care and adoption I worked for a children's residential facility have worked in the prison system I worked in Madison Correctional out in London Ohio and then and I work at the Ohio Reformatory for women in Raysville with the with the women I've worked in a school days day treatment program for kids who really struggle with Behavioral Health an academic problems and I have worked an application mental health settings where we just you carefully and now I'm where I can have you been services and we kind of do all we do a lot of community-based school-based work and Karen adoption  the way I was picking up more degrees than your education so what I would say to you about anybody in Turing this field is if you like education and you like learning this isn't afraid of a grand in history today because it's required need to get education education education and when she get all that education you need to get more continuing education research is constantly finding new new things new methods new ways of I'm working so we have to continue to learn about kind of the new things with their finding and with this kind of more with this kind of life insurance you can go into any kind of industry a lot of businesses hire people with this point of degree you can work in resources you can work in sales you can work in hospital you can be a medical social worker where is Muhammad yunus like the emergency rooms of the hospital's you can work in the prison systems you can work report systems you can work in schools school psychology requires a different level of licensure level but you can do testing there's a research institute you can prepare Greg Grant really like to write and you want to you know we're for philanthropic organization funds a lot of days so really exist anyway that you that you want to go and no matter what you do in this field everything touches somebody who lives in a positive way kind of an intrinsic value that you get from from this career some of the positive component like I said the intended God we currently we placed three years ago for my with my group agency we had a set of foster parents you're here brand new area we called them at like 9:30 on Friday night but they've been waiting to get children and they got a call to go pick a set of twins from the hospital on Friday night at 9:30 because the mother was relinquishing custody that babies were born drug-addicted and they needed a home and we were so thrilled that they selected our family because there's lots of families to choose from and those babies have been that Foster family now for 3 years almost three years on the nose and by the end of this month those babies are going to be adopted by these I'm by the family and so we're really excited to have been part of this is what we do we put these families together isn't this is a big accomplishment and this is how we we touch and we help every change lives so this is the kind of feel good about knowing that had a little bit of positive impact in somebody's life  no two days are the same and if you're somebody that likes day to be exactly the same you going to work and you know exactly what you're going to do all up and down you know all throughout the day this is not job because we're dealing with people and people have feelings and they have thoughts and behaviors and sometimes you don't know where any guys are funny from then our days always looked different so that is one of the really anything about this rear is the variety if you are one that just kind of welcomes whatever today morning this is a really great interesting fun-filled so it's challenging can be very very nice the ability to do something else but stay in the field so you can get a degree but remove all around as I have said the amount for your has kind of meandered and honestly brought me right back to where I started I started in foster care and I even went so far as going and working in prison and working in schools and now I'm right back in foster care so you can go into a variety the cons are the pay when you start out in this field it's not the highest paying job you can work your way up to a higher responsibility but if it isn't the the highest high field again  hurricanes occur, the curve and we have to be ready we have to be Willy's place a call to clock in the morning depending on where you're somebody's in a crisis last Friday I will my office and her face is cement to my office at 4:30 instead I have to hospitalize somebody she's thinking about hurting himself and I can't send so we had to put whatever we were planning on doing that Friday night I signed to try and get some help for this girl and we did today she's doing perfectly fine so that's the only what you do paperwork is done it is everywhere doesn't work sometimes and that's one of the things that social workers really getting frustrated with us because they think three winners with clients and I'm here to work directly with kids I'm not here to sit here and and document and stuff I don't want to come  but we do because if it wasn't written down it didn't happen and that is kind of our motto so we have to write down quite a few things that's one of the downfalls I think they put people always say and the other issue is it could be kind of triggering we all have our own baggage leverage stuff and when we come acrossed another person who has stuff like ours it brings our stuff  and can be very triggering to make us feel really so we need to have a nice strong support system in our own life so that we can do this kind of work and if it gets too triggering then we know we can move different kind of job doing a different kind of thing  does anybody have any questions about any of that  FIFA but I'll tell you the story that I have I usually tell my news because when people right out of college they think okay I'm going to go change the world and I'm going to make a huge difference in somebody's life and you will but sometimes it it takes a little bit more work on our part and and we have to be a little bit more mindful. my first job as I said was in foster care and I learned how to be a good counselor from a nine-year-old my 9 year old one  Wings To Go to meet her after school every week and the principal would never use in your office and she was in trouble all the time and her grades were very and it was just she was just and I know and I will talk with her every week about her trauma past and her history just sit there and look at each other in an office and talk horse kills wife I have ever had  and I was shocked I thought  well okay immediately I thought I needed quit I needed to just start doing this all together but then something else kicked in and I just looked at  what should I do first of all we need to quit focusing on my next it happened I've accepted it and we need to forward and I said okay what do you want to do and she said I want to be a doctor and I said well then what do you think you need to do to be a doctor if you can't get failing grades and keep getting suspended in school and she said fine what do I have to do to fix that so we started working on her phone plan about how we're going to overcome by the end of the year she became a straight A student that she tells me one day just out of the blue I want to be adopted by my foster family did you do as what are they think about it will they want to dump me I suppose why didn't I know about this if she said you never asked set an alarm I need to ask more questions so she really taught me how to do this work but I open myself up what was necessary so she did this she she taught me I responded what she needed to do and I was waiting for her for two birthdays and then that was down in Tennessee and then I moved back up to Ohio due to relocation so take me to terminate my connection I've been backed up in Ohio about three months and I received a letter in the mail from her this was before email she hasn't wrote me a letter and she said I want to say that you for the work you did and she said you went from being the worst counselor I ever had to the best counselor I ever had and she said and I thought you would want to know that officially adopted today and I am now you know part of this family that I wanted to be a part-time I signed her name for new her new family's name I felt so good she trained me better than any school I ever went to and I really try to remember that so I was able to from her and she was able to do something for me and I'll bet you I wonder if she is doctor I have no idea if she's a doctor today but she's probably 30 years old now she has her own family and I know that for a little bit a little part of her life I have a very positive impact and that is something that you take with you for the rest of your life knowing that you know I did something good to help somebody you know she was just really failing in school she's very very right acting out all the time when from Phelan to the straight-A student that's why we do what we do it's just are there any questions does this mean anybody want to pursue psychology or Counseling in anyway or does it sound stereo Bible, why would you go into the system do counseling yeah why I'm in this because I saw that a lot of kids were hurting in my schools well I said this earlier and I got a lot of booze but have you ever heard of a little town of West Jefferson well that's where I'm from so I used to come here that in softball  but where is there I saw a lot of my friends and a lot of my friends friends just just I'm sad and depressed and down I didn't understand all of that and I wanted to be able to be more helpful and I wanted kids to feel like they weren't all alone and so it was really important to work with the kids because I didn't feel like adults and stood I knew I knew the adults in my life to understand me when I was your age and so if I wanted to for the kids because I understood I feel like I understood kids better than adults did so I wanted to hear that that forwarded that's why I specifically got in the kids and then I went and understand how the brain worked because I think it's fascinating that I think it is my brain isn't functioning properly nothing else will function properly and there's so much stigma brain disorders that it's just another organ I mean we don't we don't say anything to be more heart conditions or liver conditions but we sure do chastises in front of people and bring the sword Facebook people be accepted Will Smith Equipment so had some ham saying oh I'm interested in the field and then that he has to come back up so when did the low pay or the paperwork what was it that turned you out of it who's playing at the Ocala well I would encourage to
