2024-2025 Incoming Kindergarten Information
Dear Families,
In kindergarten, it is our mission to provide a supportive environment in which children can grow as learners and as members of a community. Through thoughtful activities, students learn to interact with one another in a caring way while learning the academics and social skills they need to be successful. Children are empowered to imagine, explore, problem-solve, and become independent learners. Children are encouraged to solve problems on their own and communicate their thoughts and feelings. Kindergartners learn to be accountable for their choices and use mistakes as learning opportunities. We are committed to developing and honoring the whole child. Welcoming your child to kindergarten is one of the most exciting times of the year. Please be sure to carefully read the registration information as well as the Frequently Asked Questions below. While the registration part of the process is detailed, it paves the way for what I know will be an exciting learning adventure in the fall.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the birthday cut off for the 2024-2025 school year? Your student must be 5-years-old on or before August 1, 2024, to be eligible for Kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year. Each school district in Ohio is given the option between two cut-off dates set by the state. Grandview Heights Schools uses the August 1 date.
When can I enroll my eligible child? Kindergarten registration will open on Friday, January 26, 2024, and close on Thursday, February 15. The first step will be to complete the pre-registration information. After completing the pre-registration information, you will receive an email to create a PowerSchool account in order to complete the online registration forms. You should receive this email by February 20. Registration and all documentation (except for health forms) will be due by March 15 to be eligible for Kindergarten Screening.

When is Kindergarten Information Night? An in-person incoming Kindergarten Parent Meeting Information Night will be held on Thursday, January 25, in the Stevenson Elementary Gymnasium at 6 pm. Please enter through the front door located at 1065 Oxley Road. This meeting is meant for parents and guardians only, and childcare will not be available. Our future kindergarteners will get their first look at Stevenson Elementary when they attend their Kindergarten Screening in April.
How do I know if I live in the Grandview Heights School District?
- Visit the Franklin County Auditor’s website at: http://www.franklincountyauditor.com
- In the Online Tools section, click on Property Search
- Click either Search by Owner or Search by Address and provide the appropriate information in the search criteria.
- Under Tax Status, locate School District. If the school district listed is "2504 Grandview Heights CSD", then you live within the Grandview Heights Schools boundaries.
When is Kindergarten Screening? April 9 - 11, 2024. More information and a time-slot selection email will be sent to families who have completed enrollment prior to March 15th.
When is the first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year? August 13, 2024. However, Kindergarten students start on a staggered schedule, so your student’s first day of school may be on the 13th, 14th, or 15th. That date is sent to you in mid-July.

What if I miss the registration deadline to register my student? You will still be able to register your child for Kindergarten, but it may take longer for your registration to be processed and your student may not be able to attend Kindergarten Screening.
Is there an after school care program available at Stevenson Elementary? There is an after school program at Stevenson Elementary (though space is limited and priority is given to the siblings of children already in the program.) A few weeks before the Kids' Club registration opens for the 2024-2025 school year, you will receive an email that will give you a link to use to register and the time that the URL will be live.
- Registrations will be timestamped.
- All information must be complete in order to be accepted.
- Available spots will be awarded in the order completed registrations are received.
- Siblings of children currently enrolled receive priority registration.
- Notifications will be made in early May
