MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS: Friday, January 17

 

GEOGRAPHY BEE

Attention 4th and 5th Graders: All students will preliminary round test on Tuesday, January 21. The final round competition will be Thursday, January 30 during STAR, location to be determined. Please see Ms. Schoemer with any questions.

 

MENTORING

Attention 6th Graders: There will be a mentoring meeting in the media center today during lunch/recess.

 

OWjL CAMP

Attention 6-8 Graders: All parts of the OWjL Camp application must be submitted online by January 31. If you choose to mail your application, it must be received at the camp office by 1/21 (which means in the mail by 1/24.)

 

If you have already asked Mrs. Grundey for the School Form, you have received a confirmation email from her. If you have asked two teachers for recommendations, it is your responsibility to confirm with them that the forms are submitted. If your application is still a “work in progress,” please allow plenty of time for your teachers, parents, and Mrs. Grundey to do their part for you.

SPANISH CLUB

The PULSERA sales project begins January 21. $5 bracelets and $10 bags will be on sale near the cafeteria. Check the posters for dates and times. The bracelets are made by artisan families in Nicaragua and Guatemala. Learn more here.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL

Attention 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Student Council: We will meet next Tuesday, January 21 during 6th Grade lunch. 6th Graders, bring your lunch to the meeting.

 

YEARBOOK SALE

The yearbook sale is underway. Forms are going home this week. Each yearbook is $17. Sale ends Friday, January 31.

Late Arrivals: 8AM or later must enter through the Main Office door and sign in

Parents/Guardians: Enter through Main Office door only (Oakland Ave. labeled DR1)

 

 

GHHS BOYS SOCCER FUNDRAISER

It’s not too late to purchase a ticket for tonight’s Euchre Tournament at Woodland’s Backyard, 6PM-midnight! Tickets are $40 for euchre players and non-players and includes rotating partner euchre, left-right-center, open mini-bowling, pizza, beverages, snacks, and prizes. Donations are also welcome! GHS SPIRIT DAY

GHS PTOs are sponsoring Spirit Day for the Ohio State vs. Minnesota basketball game on Thursday, January 23, 6:30PM, at the Schottenstein Center. Ticket purchases can be made here.

 

GHS STUDENT HOTLINE

Grandview Heights Schools is committed to the safety and well-being of every student in our district. We have a resource for individuals to confidentially share a concern or report an incident, which reaches our school administrators to assist.

 

GIRLS ON THE RUN

This spring, 4th and 5th Grade girls are invited to participate in Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is a 10-week program that encourages girls to recognize individual strengths and build connections with others. Student registration information is forthcoming.

 

We need volunteer coaches. Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays, March 2-May 13, 3-4:30PM. If you’re interested in helping with this program, please contact Megan Hatta, meghatta@gmail.com.

There is no school on Monday, January 20 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
