New Building Community Tour: August 14, 11:30AM
District communication is forthcoming for community members to tour the new Larson Middle School. We encourage you to take advantage of this open house opportunity.
Grade 4 Open House: August 16, 4:30-6PM
The 4th Grade Team welcomes incoming fourth-graders and their families to stop in to drop off supplies and see the classrooms. This is an informal event to meet the staff, tour the space, and orient 4th Graders to the Larson building. Enter through the First Avenue doors and go to the 4th Grade classrooms.
New Family Night: August 16, 6-6:45PM
We invite fourth-grade families and newly enrolled students’ families to join us for a brief orientation on Larson Middle School, to meet some of the staff, and to have a quick tour of the building. Enter through the Commons doors and go to the LMS Gymnasium.
Curriculum Night: Virtual
After the first few weeks of school, Curriculum Night will be held virtually via a recorded message or a live-streamed meeting. Grade levels will communicate details at a later date.
About Larson Middle School
Our school page on the district website is a useful resource to find building information. A sidebar menu is labeled for navigation ease. LMS Friday Findings release weekly during the school year via email with current building and district news.
Attendance Reporting: firstname.lastname@example.org
Health Services Clinic:
Technology Support: email@example.com
If your student will be absent, arriving late, or leaving early from school, please report information to the Main Office, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
For planned absences exceeding two days, please submit a planned absence form to Mrs. Parson.
Communication with Students during School Hours
The Main Office is at its busiest during the morning, lunch transitions, and at the end of the school day. It can be challenging to relay personal phone messages to individual students. While we will do our best to inform students of messages from parents, this communication should be used only in emergency situations.
Grade-level Door Entry/Exit
There are specific grade-level doors for students’ entry/exit. Students remain outside until 7:55AM, unless they are attending a supervised activity or meeting with a staff member.
Grades 4-6 – First Avenue Doors; student drop-off/pick-up from First Avenue lot
Grades 7-8 – Commons Doors; student drop-off/pick from Oakland Avenue lot
The school day begins at 8AM and ends at 3PM. Any student who arrives past 8AM must sign in at the Main Office and will be marked as tardy. The Main Office is located off the Oakland Avenue entrance, across from visitor parking, labeled DR1. Office hours during the school year are 7:30AM-3:30PM.
Incoming 7th Graders: Immunization Information
In response to increasing cases of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) in Ohio adolescents, all students entering seventh grade are now required to have a booster dose of Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis). In addition to the Tdap, all seventh-grade students must receive the Meningococcal vaccine prior to entry.
Please submit verification from your child's vaccine provider prior to the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year to avoid exclusion. Contact Amy Elliott, RN, LSN with any questions or concerns at email@example.com.
Lunch will be 11-11:57AM. Families can opt to have their students go home for lunch or stay in the building. We ask that you commit to this choice for the first semester, and then we will offer updates for the second half of the school year.
Please confirm your student’s lunch plan here.
The USDA has extended its waiver through the end of the 21-22 school year, which allows breakfast and lunch to be offered to all students free of charge. Food Services is adding back a la carte for extra food or snack purchases. Cash payments will be accepted; however, it is encouraged to have students utilize their lunch accounts.
New Students to the District
To help our new students and families familiarize themselves with our school setting, class schedule, and start of the school year, Abby Mally, School Counselor, is available to meet prior to the start of the first day of school. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Online Registration for Returning Students
As required every school year, please ensure your student’s registration is completed via PowerSchool Enrollment (information was sent to the primary contact) before the start of the school year. For questions or assistance, please contact Carrie Mollette at email@example.com.
Grades 4-8 report cards are released electronically via ProgressBook ParentAccess. New families to LMS will have their registration keys provided to them shortly after the school year begins. For returning families who need assistance with account set-up, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you did not participate in the school supply sale, the lists are available on the school page of the district website under School Supply Lists.
