2023-2024 Back-to-School Information

Dear LMS Families,

About Larson Middle School

Our school page on the district website is a useful resource to find building information. A sidebar menu is labeled for navigation ease. LMS Friday Findings release weekly during the school year via email with current building and district news.

Main Office: (614)485-4100

Health Services Clinic: (614)485-4102

Attendance

If your student will be absent, arriving late, or leaving early from school, please report information to the Main Office, (614)485-4100 or [email protected]. For planned absences exceeding two days, please submit a planned absence form to Mrs. LaPack.

Communication with Students during School Hours

The Main Office is at its busiest during the morning, lunch transitions, and at the end of the school day. It can be challenging to relay personal phone messages to individual students. While we will do our best to inform students of messages from parents, this communication should be used only in emergency situations.

Bike Riders

Please use the designated bike racks located on Fairview and Oakland Avenues on either side of the front doors of the school building.

Crosswalks

  • The crosswalk at Fairview Avenue, crossing First Avenue, will be closed before and after school.  Students may travel on the south side of First Avenue and cross at the Oakland Avenue crosswalk.
  • Please do not cross First at Fairview due to the location of the drop-off/pick-up entrance for auto traffic.

Late Arrival (after 8 AM)

Any student in Grades 4-8 who arrives after 8 a.m. must enter the LMS building through the Main Office doors located on Oakland Avenue.  At 7:55 a.m., the bell will ring signaling students to move to their first period class. The tardy bell will ring at 8:00 a.m.

There is NO LEFT TURN onto Oakland Avenue from eastbound First Avenue 7AM-4PM. (This was put in place by the city as a safety measure for pedestrian crosswalks and better traffic flow.)

Incoming 7th Graders: Immunization Information

In response to increasing cases of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) in Ohio adolescents, all students entering seventh grade are now required to have a booster dose of Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis). In addition to the Tdap, all seventh-grade students must receive the Meningococcal vaccine prior to entry.

Please submit verification from your child's vaccine provider prior to the beginning of the school year to avoid exclusion. Contact Amy Elliott, RN, LSN, with any questions or concerns at [email protected] .

Lunch

Menus will be posted to the Food Services page on the district website. For any questions, please contact Kyle Mahan, Food Service Director, at [email protected]

New Students to the District

To help our new students and families familiarize themselves with our school setting, class schedule, and start of the school year, Abby Mally, School Counselor, is available to meet prior to the start of the first day of school. Please contact her at [email protected]

Online Registration for Returning Students

As required every school year, please ensure your student’s registration is completed via PowerSchool Enrollment (information was sent to the primary contact) before the start of the school year. For questions or assistance, please contact Brianna Dominach at [email protected].

Report Cards

Grades 4-8 report cards are released electronically. New families to LMS will have their registration keys provided to them shortly after the school year begins. For returning families who need assistance with account set-up, please email [email protected]. Grades 4-5 are on trimesters and Grades 6-8 are on quarters.
