If your student will be absent, arriving late, or leaving early from school, please report information to the Main Office, (614)485-4100 or [email protected].

For planned absences exceeding two days, please submit a planned absence form to Mrs. LaPack.

Communication with Students during School Hours

The Main Office is at its busiest during the morning, lunch transitions, and at the end of the school day. It can be challenging to relay personal phone messages to individual students. While we will do our best to inform students of messages from parents, this communication should be used only in emergency situations.

Grade-level Door Entry/Exit

Fall 2022 LMS Arrival/Dismissal Plan (August - December)

As a new school year approaches, please review the following safety plan for school day arrivals and departures. Following these guidelines is in the interest of safety for everyone involved, especially our students!

Bike Riders

For Grades 4-8, bike racks are located at the southeast corner of the existing LMS building (near the middle school playground) and at the main entrance of the existing LMS building off Oakland Avenue.

Crosswalks

  • The crosswalk at Fairview, crossing First Avenue, will be closed before and after school.  Students may travel on the south side of First Avenue and cross at the Oakland Avenue crosswalk.
  • Please do not cross First at Fairview due to the location of the drop-off/pick-up entrance for auto traffic.

Drop-off/Pick-up

  • Please pull as far forward in the lane as possible, using the coned drop-off and pick-up lanes as marked. The parking lot area needs to be open for staff and visitor parking movement.
  • Once your student is on the sidewalk, please exit the parking lot so traffic can continue to flow, limiting the back-ups on First Avenue.

Late Arrival (after 8 AM)

Any student in Grades 4-8 who arrives after 8 a.m. must enter the LMS building through the Main Office doors located on Oakland Avenue.  At 7:55 a.m., the bell will ring signaling students to move to their first period class. The tardy bell will ring at 8:00 a.m.

Grades 4-5

All 4th and 5th Graders will enter the building through the north playground doors on the east side of the middle school building.  The door is located by the vine mural.

  • 4th and 5th Graders may enter the building at 7:45 a.m.
  • 4th and 5th Graders will then report to the middle school gymnasium until the bell rings for class at 7:55 a.m.

All students in Grades 4 and 5 who are driven to/from school by a parent/guardian will be dropped off and picked up in the First Avenue lot. Vehicles will enter in the east entrance ONLY, nearest to the new condominium construction and exit through the west entrance ONLY, off the lot to First Avenue.

Grades 6-8

Grades 6, 7, and 8 will enter/exit the building from the Commons doors located on Oakland Avenue.

  • 6th, 7th and 8th Graders may enter the building at 7:45 a.m.
  • 6th Graders  will report to the middle school gym until the bell rings for first period at 7:55 a.m.
  • 7th and 8th Graders will report to the cafeteria until the bell rings for first period at 7:55 a.m.

All students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 who are driven to/from school by a parent/guardian will be dropped off and picked up in the Oakland Avenue parking lot. Vehicles will enter in the south entrance of the lot and exit from the north exit.

There is NO LEFT TURN onto Oakland Avenue from eastbound First Avenue 7AM-4PM. (This was put in place by the city last year as a safety measure for pedestrian crosswalks and better traffic flow.)

Incoming 7th Graders: Immunization Information

In response to increasing cases of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) in Ohio adolescents, all students entering seventh grade are now required to have a booster dose of Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis). In addition to the Tdap, all seventh-grade students must receive the Meningococcal vaccine prior to entry.

Please submit verification from your child's vaccine provider prior to the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year to avoid exclusion. Contact Amy Elliott, RN, LSN with any questions or concerns at [email protected].

Lunch

Menus will be posted to the Food Services page on the district website. For any questions, please contact Kyle Mahan, Food Service Director, at [email protected]

New Students to the District

To help our new students and families familiarize themselves with our school setting, class schedule, and start of the school year, Abby Mally, School Counselor, is available to meet prior to the start of the first day of school. Please contact her at [email protected].

Online Registration for Returning Students

As required every school year, please ensure your student’s registration is completed via PowerSchool Enrollment (information was sent to the primary contact) before the start of the school year. For questions or assistance, please contact Brianna Dominach at [email protected].
